Welcome Mental health

an important discussion with refugee youth in Utah. Hear first-hand experiences from Salt Lake City’s newest neighbors and how mental health practices have become a welcome exploration as they make Utah their home.

Chapter 1. Welcome.

4 young people got together in one of Mental Healthy F.I.T.’s expressive recovery workshops to learn about sharing their stories. Watch the vid to meet Mahmood, Aziza, Walaa and Rock.

Chapter 2. Learning.

Mental Health is not all doom and gloom. At least if we look at it with perspective. In this chapter we learn about PTSD, but also about how we can change our stories for the better.

Chapter 3. Expressing.

Rock chose to tell his story through writing and video diary. While Mahmood went out into nature to spend time with a friend and some goats.

Panel discussion.

  • Remember to ask for help if you feel different.

  • Listen to friends if someone seems different.

  • Talk about things that are overwhelming.

Spending time doing things you enjoy and taking breaks throughout the day can help reset your mental wellness batteries.

There is no shame in experiencing mental health issues. If this is the first time or recurring, someone is always there to help.
